be sure to rewrite, eh?

Just because you wrote your first draft doesn’t mean it’s the Holy Grail and can’t be changed.

How’s this example of rewriting? First draft:

National Environment Teach-In Day

Rewritten, it became:

Earth Day

Shorter, better, catchy, with some punch and meaning. Rewriting rocks. Only morons and geniuses think their first draft is the last draft. And neither you nor I are either one.

    Yeah, if WANTED took 80+ drafts and that writer knew what he was doing, imagine how many drafts it will take for a beginning writer?

    X-MEN was 100 drafts.

    Anyone who attacks someone who is only trying to help them will not get far in this business, as it’s a business of “that’s somebody easy to get along with, let’s hire him…”
