Does No One Proofread?

My twin attack dobermans are at my house, FYI. They have not been fed since I left town.

I am in Washington D.C. I am going to the Arboretum, or may go. Not sure. Busy arming myself with all the relevant information… Like their hours. This from their official United States Government website.

The Arboretum grounds are open every day of the year except December 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Does that mean they are closed on December 25th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or did they mean this:

The Arboretum grounds are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day of the year except December 25. Admission is free.

Dumb asses.

How hard is that?
Thought I’d share.

    Dear John,

    Your corrected sentence means:
“The grounds are open from 8 to 5 every day – except on december 25th, on which they are open during other times” πŸ˜‰

Btw, you can’t really solve the problem without making 2 sentences πŸ˜‰

    keep up the good work

  2. Um…okay, since this was about people proofreading, lc, do you know that the owner of this blog’s name is Will and not John?

    Just wonderin’….
